This special 132-page magazine, drawn from the archives of Classic Rock, is a celebration of one of the greatest bands America has ever produced. It charts the band’s stellar rise, in the words of the people who were there, including guitarist Robby Krieger, drummer John Densmore and late keyboard player Ray Manzarek, and dives deep into the making of their classic albums, from that landmark self-titled debut to Morrison’s powerful swansong L.A. Woman. We also look at the myth that has grown up around the singer, go inside Oliver Stone’s 1990 biopic and chart the band’s long and eventful afterlife.
