The story of science is possibly the strangest tale ever told in human history. We don’t know quite where it began. We have no idea how, when, or if it will end. What we do know is that humanity’s relentless need to question and explore has propelled us from huntergatherers with a tenuous grasp on fire to a worldstraddling civilisation that can split the atom, transmit information through the air, and even step outside the boundaries of our own Earth and into space beyond.
